TIP OF THE WEEK: The Magical Golden Hour

The first hour after sunrise and the last hour before sunset is called the golden hour. Why the golden hour? Simply put, these are the times during the day when the light is soft and casts a golden hue.

This is one of the best times to do outdoor portrait shoots. The sun is low and the shadows are not harsh like they are at mid-day. Notice how long the shadows are when the sun is setting, this is an excellent opportunity to get some pretty unique shots.

Sunrises and sunsets vary every day. Check your local forecast to get the exact times. The golden hour doesn’t last very long, you need to get out there to take advantage of it at the right time.

Helpful tip: Raise the ISO on your phone to capture more light when the sun sets and the sky gets darker. Also, use a tripod to keep your phone as steady as possible.
