With selfie sticks becoming increasingly more popular, it's no longer uncommon to now see celebrities using them. This shouldn't come as a huge surprise as a lot of celebrities are very active on social media these days, using it for their personal life as well as for promotional purposes. Since most of us are only used to seeing celebrities on camera in a professional setting, it can be pretty amusing seeing them out in public taking selfies. With that in mind, here are 10 of the biggest celebrities using selfie sticks.
1. Barack Obama
The 44th President of the United States has been known for having a lighter side. In fact he's been seen multiple times using a selfie stick. He first used one more a promotional video on BuzzFeed for HealthCare.gov which caught a lot of attention. Recently he was also seen using one on his trip to Alaska, however this time it was strictly for personal use.
2. Leonardo DiCaprio
Leo was recently spotted taking selfies with his selfie stick while going for a walk alone in New York. This was a pretty strange sighting since Leo is usually only seen partying on a yacht or at a fancy club. However it's cool seeing one of the biggest movie stars of today having a more casual side. Hey, maybe they'll make an Oscar category for the best selfie.
3. Tom Hanks
During David Letterman's final few Late Night episodes, Tom Hanks made a guest appearance. He surprised Letterman when he busted out a selfie stick to get a shot of the two of them. Although Letterman was confused as to what exactly the device was, it made for a pretty cool selfie and some good laughs.
4. P.Diddy
One of the first celebrities to be spotted using a selfie stick was P Diddy. During a family trip on a yacht, Diddy was seen taking several selfies with his selfie stick. The picture above for instance is of himself and his son Christian.
5. Veep Cast
During a media appearance for their show, the cast of Emmy award winning 'Veep' including Julia Louis Dreyfus used a selfie stick to capture themselves together on the red carpet.
6. Bill Murray
Legendary actor Bill Murray appeared at the Laureus Awards in Shanghai, China sporting a selfie stick of his own with a GoPro camera. You don't see that everyday.
7. Zoolander (Ben Stiller)
During the Valentino Fashion Show, actors Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson appeared in character to promote the sequel of the movie Zoolander. Ben aka Derek Zoolander snapped multiple hilarious poses with his selfie stick like only he can.
8. Ryan Seacrest
Host of multiple programs Ryan Seacrest brought a selfie stick to his most recent hosting gig for E! at the Golden Globes. You can see him above walking the red carpet snapping selfies with his mic in hand.
9. Maria Sharapova
Tennis stars Maria Sharapova and Thanasi Kokkinakis used a selfie stick to capture an awesome selfie of themselves with 380 youth volunteers at the Australian open. You certainly couldn't do that without a selfie stick.
10. Kevin Hart
Actor/comedian Kevin Hart brought 3 selfie sticks on stage at the People's Choice Awards while presenting an award with fellow actors Josh Gad & Kaley Cuoco. You can see the gig above.
As you can see, although celebrities already have paparazzi taking pictures of them, there's still nothing like a good ol' selfie. However we're still waiting on the Donald Trump selfie stick sighting, but I'm sure that's not too far off.
